100% width backgrounds in a DIV on IE failing

Hi,

It’s easy to create a full width 100% image in a 100% width DIV in a compliant browser

http://www.printlineadvertising.co.uk/demo/backgrounds/

But, IE7 8 is not playing on this one. It creates the DIV at 100% width, but the image remains at the actual size width Try looking at the above URL in Net Renderer Moved

Anyone know how to coax IE into behaving?

David

Tried it in netrenderer with 7/8 a few times and it looks fine.

Hi David,
The only issue I can see is the German dialog box in IE 5.5 - <Moved

Tim.

Ah ah, Tod and Tim,

There is a subtle difference, the image is about 1280px wide and is centred (to cover this problem at smaller screen sizes), look at the image sides it does no match the Safari version which is true edge to edge.

In IE the image shows (wrongly) centred at exact 1280px size ~ not 100% width of the browser.

Hmmm. OK, I’m not saying this will work but try giving the parent div
a width of 100%, in this case I believe it’s the FW-generated PageDiv.

Hi todd,

Seems there is a trick to make this work: http://www.htmlite.com/faq022.php

I have not tested it yet
