1st Site Completed! looking for feedback

I finally finished my first freeway pro website. I built it for my mom who is an expressionist painter and had been wanting a website for quiet some time. If you care to give me some feedback on it that would be really sweet. Its at http://www.sashapepper.com Check it out, and let me know what looks good and what could be improved on.

Thanks so much!

Hi Waylen, very impressive for a first site, and I think the colours
are great (also love your Mother’s art btw).

I can’t see any problems with it apart from on the ‘Artist Bio’ page
there’s a stray ochre/brown coloured strip running horizontally about
half way down the page. It looks like a copy of the strip which
separates the main content from the top and bottom of the page.

This is using Safari 3.2.1 on OSX 10.4.11, but apart from this, very
well done.

Looks like a good site. There’s just some DIV ID naming to be had (from a coding side), perhaps a drop in of some META tags for search-ability, and wrap it up with more unique page titles.

Out of all the Freeway built sites I see people still name pages for what they appear as in the navigation and not anything more about them. Descriptive page titles find hits in terms of SEO and I’d encourage more people to change their titles to be more then just “Contact” or “Home.”

Overall, it works plus the artwork is cool.

With artwork it’s advisable to put a watermark through the middle of the enlargements so to try to scupper it for anyone who might want to use your Mum’s wonderful images.

Lovely site. Lovely work.

Cheers, Carolyn

YES YES YES! If you want search engines to rank the site highly then this is excellent advice.

Very nice site. Colors are great, and your mom’s work is striking!
Besides the brown line that has already been mentioned, on your
contact page, there are a couple of typos. “Ca” should be “CA” and
“here” should be “hear.”

From a totally nitpicking standpoint, I feel like if you indent your
paragraphs (bio & statement), then you shouldn’t double space between
then. My preference is to have no indentation. Also, I wonder if you
really need the scrolling text. I think the frame detracts from the
arty nature of the site, and the text isn’t really that long.

It’s a very nice looking site, and I’m sure your mom is justifiably
proud!

Looks really good, and especially for a first attempt at a site! Well done!

Thanks everyone for the compliments and suggestions. I really appreciate it a lot. I spent what seemed like an excessively long amount of time on the site, due to other things going on, as well as working my way through the learning curve you have with anything. After this first site I can see some of the things I can do in the future to speed things up, or at least not slow me way down…lol. I imagine the more sites you build the faster and more efficient you get with the process. Nice to know the site works!

Thanks again,
Waylen
