3D experience in Intaglio ?

Hi Nick,

I have been enjoying Intaglio since its early days, and getting better at designing buildings, machines, mechanical tools, etc. Not being an engineer, Intaglio helps me design ideas that I pass on to colleagues who are also not engineers. When we like an idea, we pass it on to architects and metal shop experts, who turn out CAD-CAM or AutoDesk files. We save a lot of “engineer time” by doing our prototype ideas inside Intaglio.

Intaglio is easy to learn and I get better and better using complex features… Its an awesome product that I can show designs with and people understand what we want to build.

But… I wish it could be a 3D board, where I show one side of a vehicle, then rotate to front, back, below, etc. I’d like to pivot an object around and see the 3D aspects all around.

Any chance you want to build the next version with this awesome idea ?

I’d pay a good price for such an upgrade version of what is already a great tool !

Cheers,

Marco

I second this, although I am fully conscious switching to 3D would (will?) be an enormous change (database storage format, etc.).

Maybe some “pseudo-3D” library elements that would wisely share parameters like the horizon line would already help some users?

Anyway, I sincerely believe Intaglio is the one and only software that managed to beat Apple’s GUI ease in years, and it there is one capable of beating Sketchup, it’s Intaglio.

I wish the authors, while wisely working on more immediate, paying ipod/linux standard versions, somehow do think about what a really good 3D would be!
