5p2 issues

Hi,
Some issues I’ve noticed in 5p2:

  • Actions>Scriptaculous>Combo>OnPageLoad:Fade : Initially Hidden does not result in a Fade In effect. Nothing happens. Actioned div remains invisible. It would be nice to do a fade in effect.

  • html div width and height can be set in em now, but in Freeway is rendered as if it was px whereas in Safari is shown as em. eg try to set a div width of 20em and you end up with 129 em, looks OK in Freeway but in Safari it is really wide (129*12 px wide).

  • Apply a shadow effect to an html item containing text. Looks great! Try to set the background of the html item to a colour in the inspector. The background color is not applied to the main html item, where it normally goes, but instead is applied to the shadow area. To apply background colour behind the text area of the html box, one has to set it to Inspector>Brush Tab>Graphic effects>Background. This is the wrong way around!

  • Put a table somewhere. The X and Y point can be set in % (although html boxes can). The width and height can’t (although html boxes can). Nor can the height or width be set in ems (neither can html boxes. HTML box heights can be set to ‘0’, but not table cells. Unspecified (empty) values, percentages and ems are perfectly legitimate and incredibly helpful options for web page layout. Some support is creeping in for html items, but this is patchy and there is almost no support for anything other than px for tables. It would be really great if Freeway permitted uniformly and complete usage of px, %, em and empty values for all html, table, and cell items Why? px-defined items are static (always the same size, no matter what, whereas % sized objects stretch with window resizing, em sized objects stretch with default text size expansion, and zero sized objects stretch to fit their contents. All very useful - why not consistently available in FW5?

Nice app still lots to update!

Chris.

Glad you like it so far!

Just a reminder to everyone trying out the Freeway 5 Previews that
there is a bug reporter and feedback form which feeds right back into
the Softpress Matrix.

Try Appear, this has been changed to “Fade In” internally so will
eventually be named that.

We have this logged from your previous bug report, thanks.

There is a separate graphic effect background button in the Graphic
Effects section of the Inspector that you need to use. The HTML
background is different to the background of the effects you are
applying.

I will add your comments to the database.

Thanks for the feedback.

Thanks Joe for your feedback.

This will be a nice update to FW4.

I’m really hoping that it won’t be rushed and that the goal will be to ‘dot the i’s and cross the t’s’.

Cheers

Chris.

Yes, please make items defined in ems appear at the correct size in Freeway!

I’m really liking this latest version (V2) and FW5 overall! So many things have been improved or added, I’m seeing new stuff all the time. I’m trying to use every feature as fast as possible to get an idea how everything works. But most new stuff is pretty slick… It’s going to be hard to try and use Dreamweaver after this! Yea!
