72 dpi jpeg

Hey

I have som jpeg 72dpi ready to go images. But when i imort them the quality is very bad and they look fine in other apps. I’ve tried to pass-through and set quality to 100 but nonthing seems to help.
Can anyone give me a step by step guide on how to import the images in a nice quality?

There are 2 lines of thought on achieving best quality.

Firstly don’t jpeg a jpeg - this causes double compression and loss of quality. FW reoutputs your jpeg as a jpeg. Instead bring in your image as a Hi Res Pshop PSD (or Tiff) and let FW do the jpeg bit for you. This method allows you to try different quality levels without going back to Pshop.

I’ve tried to pass-through and set quality to 100

You cannot set output quality in FW on a pass-through image. The name means that it passes through FW without any alteration of the original.

If you use a pass-through then do all your adjustments in Pshop and dont bring it into FW until you are 100% happy otherwise you will spend a lot of time between the 2 programs.
