A cautionary iPhone tale

At the end of June I headed off to the good old US of A for a well deserved 3 week sojourn.

Wanting to keep in touch I prepped by buying a 50Mb Data Abroad bolt on from O2 for my iPhone.

Now after being back for over 2 weeks and recovered from the jet lag I received a text from O2 today telling me:

This is courtesy message from O2 informing you that your spend is now £323 over your line rental this month.

Turns out 50Mb wasn’t nearly enough - but that is the biggest they offer!

It appears that I used 102Mb - 52Mb over the 50 meg allowance at a cost of £6/Mb

So if you are going to do the same as me - travel abroad that is - then make sure that you only surf, send and receive emails, use Location Services etc when you are connected via free WiFi

Or you could just leave it at home!
