A number of errors

Hi everybody,

I have a number of errors coming up in Freeway since I migrated the software from my old iMac to my new one.

There are 4 issues in all:

  1. File not found error on startup
When I start up Freeway this error occurs:

File Not Found

Necessary Support File not found in action bundle.
Expected location: [[ Settings:mootoolsOptions.txt ]]

Action may not function properly.

I don’t even know where to start trying to solve this error as I don’t know where it’s saying the file is missing from or how to get hold of it.

has anyone got any ideas?

  1. Javascript error
After pressing OK on the above error, the following comes up:

JavaScript Error

Action: moo:Slimbox
invalid property id

Again, not much info here so don’t know where to start.

  1. Publish problems 1
When I open up the file for my current website www.sj-creative.co.uk which is working absolutely fine, I have two sets of problems come up when I try to publish the site.

The first says:
“ACTION CANNOT BE USED: The following actions have been incorrectly applied and will be ignored”

It the lists two actions mainly with multiple occurrences, the actions are:
“Target Show/Hide Layer” on the home page and “Caxton” on every page.

Not sure why as they are all working fine on my site?

  1. Publish problems 2
The second set of issues says:
“RESOURCE CANNOT BE FOUND. The following resources cannot be found” and then links loads of resources that were linked to my old hard drive, an example is:

“The file Macintosh HD:Library:Application Support:Freeway 5:Actions:Mootools Suite:Images:closelabel.gif for this resource cannot be found - it will not be published.”

How can I re-link these to my new Library, which has the path “Macintosh SSD:Users:myname:Library:Application Support:…”?

Sorry for the long post but all of these errors mean that I can not update my site without it messing up and overriding what is already there and working.

Thank you in advance for any help you may have.

Simon

  1. Reinstall the MooTools Action suite

  2. May be sorted after doing 1

  3. Doing 1 and 2 may fix 3. If not then you will need to go through each instance of these 2 actions and clear the errors. Maybe even reapply the actions.

  4. Edit>Resources and in here you will be presented with a list of all the resource files that you used in your FW doc. If you were sensible then these will all be stored in 1 folder (the Media folder) if not dont worry.

In the Edit Resources dialogue box with a resource highlighted that is marked as missing click on the Edit button (bottom right)

In the dialogue box that opens next select the Locate button and then navigate to the new location of the missing file (your media folder?) NB - do not be tempted to link to a copy of the file that is in the FW created Site>Resources folder. That way lies madness!

Once you have found the missing file and selected it click Open to update its location.

If all your missing resources are in the same place then FW should automagically update the rest for you - if not then you may need to work through the list.

You might want to consider doing away with the MooTools actions as Weaver has ceased support for them (some time ago) and there can be issues when using them in conjunction with the standard FW actions.

Hi Dave,

Thanks for your replies. I have reinstalled the Mootools Suite but that has made no difference, I still have all of the issues listed above.

In relation to the 4th issue, none of the files appear in the resources dialogue box when I go to edit resources … and all of the ones in there all have the status of OK.

I think the issue is that it is trying to link to a Mootools Suite on my old ‘Macintosh HD’, but as my new iMac has a SSD and 1TB HD, both named differently to the original, it can’t find the library or resources in there.

So how can I re-do this link?

Is FW running on your new Mac - which OS? If Lion or Mountain then you will need to use the trick to find the Library folder - which I dont know off hand.

Once in the Library>ApplicationSupport>Freeway 5>Actions then Right Click on Mootools Suite.fwactionb and select Show package contents. In there you should find a Settings folder and inside that should be a file called ‘mootoolsOptions.txt’ - if it is not there then I suggest you copy it from the same location on your old HD

Let us know what happens after you have done that.

BTW - what effect(s) are you creating with Moo that cannot be duplicated in Script/Protaculous?

Hi Dave,

I am working on 10.8.2, Mountain Lion.

I have managed to find the actions on my old machine and copy them across to the ApplicationSupport>Freeway5>Actions folder on the new machine and that has made it all work.

The issue I was having with the Caxton action was that Apple Script was not turned on for Actions.

As for using Mootools, I am using it for the Slimbox for the portfolio on my website, I don’t know how I would replicate the slimbox with any other actions, I am willing to find out more if you know where to point me?

Thanks for your help.

Glad to hear it - not quite sure why a new install of Moo didn’t do the trick but you are working now.

Have you looked at Exhibeo as an alternative? I don’t have Lion to see its capabilities but you should download the trial and give it a go. http://exhibeoapp.com/
