A Quick Update on Backdraft

Freewaytalkers,

I just want to let you guys know that Backdraft 2.0 has been undergoing beta testing in the past few weeks and is getting very close to being releasable! It’s been rebuilt to use the official responsive features in Freeway 7, which will make Backdraft much easier to work with and customize. There will also be several new modules making their debut in this version.

I’ve still got some testing to do and documentation to write, but things are progressing quickly at this point.

I can’t wait to show it to you all!

Thanks Dave - I can’t wait to see what people can do with it.

Great question! This will be Freeway 7+ only as it utilizes a lot of the really awesome new features in 7.

Awesome. I’ve been holding off on purchasing 7 until you complete the BD update.

I have just purchased FW 7 and I can’t think of a better way to learn responsive layouts than with Caleb’s Backdraft.
I personal feel its a much easier with the hands on approach and more freedom than a single template.

looking forward to 2.0! : )

I have to disagree - BackDraft actually removes you from the responsive learning process as it is all done for you.

Of course this (for the majority of users) is a great thing but does mean that you don’t really learn how to build a responsive site from scratch.

If you dig into all the settings applied to a BackDraft module then that is where you will benefit - but most BD users don’t want to have to do that.

This is how I learned HTML and CSS in the bad old days of the late 90s — from watching what Freeway wrote when I drew something in the WYSIWYG.
