Action to create dummy text

Just a thought, but would it be possible to the create an action to make dummy “ipsum lorem” dummy text, the same way as Quark xtension “Jabber” creates dummy text.

I suppose its an in program feature to put on the Freeway Pro wish list (rather than an action/publish after effect). But it would save time when drafting dummy layouts for clients.

There’s always MaLorem: http://tr.im/nI5W

I use that, but mainly I use TypeIt4Me, the most wonderful utility
ever written for the Mac. Or nearly, anyway

It’s been years since I typed my email address out, I just type ‘em’
and it does the rest. And for dummy text, I just type ‘lorem’ and I
get this:

Thaet trymian, stod he beornas grith hearde, eac gethanc gyf him
sendon taehte aet him tham on wicinga tha handum ne he with sceoldon
thine tha freode. Tha hafoc aet randas Byrhtnoth of eac. Haefde on is
healdan ongan thaere freode. Thon heoldon thaet tham on bradswurd
betere Eadric forgyldon sendon haefde faegere tha. Feor se hafoc tha
the rathe to hors thurfe stithlice wille.

… which happens to be Old English rather than Latin, but it’s nice
to have a change. I have a couple; I have ‘lorem’ which is the above,
and I have ‘lorem2’ which is the same but longer.

TypeIt4Me costs very little, and it’s so easy to just type ‘lorem’
that I’d rather do that than have Softpress spend valuable time
incorporating it …

What happens if you are writing a word that starts with em, or do you
need to put a space after it for the replacement to take place or
something?

Yes, the trigger is choosable; I use a space to trigger it. Also you
can (if you remember) hold down Shift and it won’t trigger. But I
often forget and end up going ‘bugger’ and backspacing  It’s worth
it, though; I’ve never come across such a helpful utility. All the
words I use a lot are in there: Softpress, Freeway, Photoshop, Quark,
Microsoft, my full address, my personal URL, my Visa card No. and
dozens of others all with a two or three-letter abbreviation. No
reasonable limit on what it’ll put in either; I could type six pages
just by hitting two letters. There is actually a limit, but I forget
what it is. I love it.
