Add a new cell in middle of a menu list

I have a menu bar (table) on left side of page with about 40 vertical cells of links to products. I have applied the Menu Bar action to the table. It’s in alphabetical order. I want to add a new cell somewhere in the list. Is this possible?

For example my vertical list reads:

Animals, Bottles, Cabins, Dinners, Eggbeaters

I want to add “Buckles” in a new cell under “Bottles”

The only way I seem to be able to do this is copy and paste one cell at a time to move the entire list down a cell.

I thought about putting nothing in the cells, and instead make my list a hyperlink text list on top of the cell. That way I could get the Menu Bar action features to work?

I’ve searched this forum posts and it looks like it’s also impossible to easily make the cells re-order to alphabetical order.

Thanks
Cecil

There’s no way to make it re-order alphabetically, but you can very
easily add a cell “between” two cells:

  1. Click on the cell you want to add your content next to. It should
highlight with a thick-ish gray border, and there should not be a
    flashing text cursor anywhere.
  2. From the Item menu, select Table > Split Cell.
  3. Choose the appropriate axis and number of cells. Your existing
content will end up in one of the split cells, so you don’t need to
copy it or cut it to the clipboard.
  4. Add your new content into the new cell created in the table.

Thank you Walter. I don’t know why I couldn’t find that. Actually the “insert rows…” right under “split cells” menu item does exactly what I need.

Again, thank you for pointing this out.

If you hold option while dragging the divider cursor you will drag a new
column or row on the fly.
If you select copy and paste a previous row onto the new row (first ensuring
that the cell structure matches if necessary) it will set all the
characteristics to match and you only have to type or paste over or change
action parameters etc for the new rows content.
hope this helps

Brian
