add items to web form list

Hi all,

I 'm building a site in 5.5 Pro and need to do something similar to ‘add to cart’ shopping function but without the purchase element.

Basically I’ve got various equipments which a user should be able to ‘Add To List’ - the final step being to send the list to the site owner so they can quote on the selection.

It’s very much like shopping, but without shopping, if you see what I mean!

What would you reckon is the best way to go about this?

Thx
Hugh

I did an example of this a while back, and David made a Freeway file example of it. Have a look here to start:

And here is my version http://www.deltadesign.co/fw_examples/walts_scripts/

Not sure if I still have a 5.5 version but I will have a look. Exactly which FW version do you have?

Hi Walter and Dave, thanks for the links - will take a look at those.

My Freeway version is 5.6.5

right, just taken a look at your two links…

Walter, will take me a while to get my head around all that (well some of it will be over my head, I’m afraid!), but that’s definitely the kind of thing, yes. As you originally say, it might be possible to use the Freeway shopping cart without the payment aspect - to be looked into!

Dave, very nice example - that’s almost exactly it, except my items would all be on different pages with no “next” “back” sequence - it would just be a bunch of pages with a bunch of items, each with own ‘add to list’ button. There would be a ‘list summary’ page where people would add personal details and then send the aggregated list.

The next/back aspect is just there to show that you can navigate between different pages and maintain the cart structure. It’s carried in a cookie, so it’s available to all pages in your site. In you mind, substitute forward and back for different page names.

If you drop me a line - you will get my email from my People page - I can send you a FW doc.
