Adding Google Tracking Code

Happy New Year everyone!

I’ve done this once - and promptly forgotten how to do it again (for another site). Can anyone guide me in the right direction, as it seems as I left my brain cells in that Manhattan party last night?

Where exactly do I add the code? This is the instruction on Google’s Analytics page:

“The code contained in the text box on the Tracking Status page must be copied and pasted into all of the web pages you will be tracking. It should be added immediately before the tag, and can be added by hand or through the use of templates or includes, if available.

Plus, I’m puzzling over Meta Tags and the correct way to enter those for the same reason.

I know it’s New Year’s Day, but what can I tell you, I feel like working – if only my brain did…

Thanks!

Wow! It really is amazing what that second cup of coffee does for my decrepit brain cells. It seems that almost from the first sip the light went on and bingo, I remembered! Thanks all for your help…

You lot are obviously way too sensible to be on this board today, but I’m going to thank you anyway.

So thanks.

Have a great new year…

On the page you wish to track, or on the Master Page that you will use to make new pages, open up the Page >HTML Markup dialog, and choose “Before /BODY” from the picking list on the bottom-left of that dialog.

Paste your code.

You can try using the Master Page to add this code to existing pages, but be sure to go through all of the child pages and open up the same dialog and confirm that the master content “took”. It’s very easy for the Markup part of a Master page to get separated from the child pages, and sometimes you will be able to add code this way, and sometimes you won’t.

oh, one more thing - the code wouldn’t verify until i placed it “” rather than "Before /BODY”
