All body text is underlined

We are working on a new site for my wife and she has been entering some of the content (to help me out). She happily worked in page mode only and got a nice surprise when 10 or so pages later she previewed and noticed all the text now has an underline and I mean everything, body, h1, h2, h3, links, images with links, every thing is underlined. Well I thought she must have clicked the underline option in the body style at some point - checked into that and the underline option is not selected.

Checking further into this I noticed it’s only pages belonging to a certain master page -I then relinked the pages to a different master and everything is still underlined.

I then deleted the body tag and replaced it with another random style - no more underlines. I then created a new body tag and the underlines are back.

Then I checked the source code and found this

</head><body style="text-decoration: underline;">

How did this get there? I’m sure I’m looking in the wrong place. Anybody have any ideas as to what is going on.

Cheers
Marcel

Did she perhaps copy and paste stuff from Microsoft Word? That
program is a complete … [ahem]

It packs a load of unwanted and frankly superfluous code data into
the clipboard when you copy text, and this can make its way into
otehr apps that try to make use of styling data in pasted text. In
Freeway’s case this can lead to extra code being packed into the
design.

This may not be what’s happened. But even if not, always always
ALWAYS use the Paste and Match Style option when pasting text copied
from Word. (And from most other apps for that matter, but it is only
Word and possibly other Office apps that do this Brain Dead Obnoxious
Arrrgh Thing!) [head explodes]

More on that here:

… although not Freeway-centric, I’m afraid.

Keith, that’s what she did. I know I should have told her to use the Paste & Match command or even paste into Text Edit and make plain text and then to FW. Any how, no use crying over spilt milk. Is there a way to remove this piffle from FW or should I just redo the pages for her.

Thanks, Marcel

Found the offending bit of text sitting in the footer. Phew not too bad, only 15 pages were effected, I’m glad she did not put it on all the pages, there’s over 100.
