ALT Tags

When naming ALT Tags for graphic files - should they be singlr words or do you wat to enter phrases that you would enter in to a search engine?

Also, do you want to be creative and name everyone differently or is better to have multiples of the same name?

For example - an event planner page. Should I be naming everything with event planner in it?

I am just trying to figureout the naming process for ALT Tags… What works best?

Thanks,

There is more than one opinion on this. Mine follows the importance of
Alt Tags to people with a visual disability or graphics turned off.
The Alt Tag should describe what the graphic is about, be it a picture
or a chart or a graphic headline.

There is no harm in adding additional words relevant to searches, but
be concise and avoid too much repetition of the the same words/phrase
on the same page. This will mark you down, if the search engine thinks
you are “spamming”. A couple of times is enough.
