Hi
Just completed a website and not wanting a lengthy web page on certain pages because of the amount of text, I have put this text in an html box with the overflow feature on auto, so the user scrolls this text box to view etc
Although it works OK, I was wondering if there is a better or alternative way to do this as the scroll bar look a bit clunky sat in my design.

There isn’t much wrong with a long web page - popular opinion says that people are expecting to scroll down more these days.
There are other methods to display more info in the same space such as Tabbed Areas, Carousels etc.
Can we see what you have so that we might offer options.

I once followed a list here, that allowed me to build an alternative one using protaculous and a few lines of code.
Caveat yet:
I haven’t had a chance for “multiple scrollbars” on one page although Walter gave me several tipps to fix.
All graphic stuff need to be prepared somewhere in a pixelmaker (Photoshop, Pixelmator, similar) cause you need to argue with plain HTML-items (I write this, cause I had this issue in the past and someone tried using Freeways Inspector to built the elements with the result, that this turned everything in non-functional table-stuff).
The list was:

The example was:

I probably should bore Walter again with it?

Hi Dave
This is the site:
The main consideration is the background graphic being large enough to fill, don’t want white edges if the page depth is greater.

Why not just make your page background colour the darkest purple of the bottom of the bg image.
