Anchors

I have been asked to “Link all sub pages back to the main page with
‘fitness days’ as anchor” I initially assumed I would just make the
header graphic on the main page an anchor and call it 'fitness days"
but then wondered if this was correct.

Rather than having an actual anchor on the main page - should I
instead add an extended attribute to the link? and if so, what would
that extended attribute be… ‘name’, ‘anchor’? I have done a search
in Google to see if I can see and reference or if indeed this is
possible or the right/wrong way to go about it.

Is ‘fitness days’ a picture, or some text? If so, can’t you just
select it and apply a link back to the main page using the links panel?

best wishes,

There is a section of the website called Fitness Days which has
several other pages for locations. Basically this is all SEO
recommendations and internal linking. Liking straight back to the main
page is fine, it just threw me a little when the word ‘anchor’ crept
in as I wouldn’t want to create an anchor on an image in the main page
and link to it as the browser would drop down the page to that point
(although I suppose I could create a blank .gif at the very top and
anchor to that). I was just wondering if the anchor term ‘fitness
days’ could be added without actually adding a physical anchor.

You can certainly do this – just make the link manually. As long as
there is nothing on the page that has the literal ID fitness-days,
then tacking #fitness-days onto the end of the URL to the page will
have no visible effect in any browser. I’m not sure to what degree
this will gain you any mojo, but hey, these SEO people have to eat as
well, right?
