[ANN] HTML5 Action

New, at ActionsForge (which you should support: http://actionsforge.com/next) is the HTML5 suite of Actions:

###HTML5 Page:
Apply this to your page to get a valid HTML5 doctype and a JavaScript “shim” to help Internet Explorer < 9 deal with the shock of the new. (This Action is built in to the other two Actions in this suite, so you only need this if all you want is a valid HTML5 page.)

###HTML5 Element:
Use any of the new structural elements in HTML5: article, section, header, footer, etc. Also structure an element as a datalist, to become a set of auto-complete options for an HTML5 Input (only works in Firefox and Opera at the moment, support coming soon to other browsers).

###HTML5 Input:
Use any of the new input types in HTML5: the famous ‘search’ element, with all of the trimmings, the time and date inputs, the range slider, email and url and tel (which trigger different keyboards in iOS), etc. Disable the various autocomplete and autocorrect behaviors, set one input on the page to auto-focus when the page loads, or add a placeholder (coach text) inside the input that will disappear when the visitor starts typing (no JavaScript needed in modern browsers). Also apply a datalist, created with the HTML5 Element Action, to act as an auto-completing list of possible options, or add a data- attribute to your input to work with Prototype or jQuery.

Please give these a try, and I recommend that you buy Jeremy Keith’s great book HTML5 for Web Designers, from A Book Apart: HTML5 For Web Designers, A Book Apart to learn what all this means. It’s the future, I tell you! Where’s my rocket car and silver jumpsuit?

Thank you Walter, these are really terrific actions (and unbelievably,
FREE!!)

This is one of the first pages I built with them:
http://cssway.thebigerns.com/workbench/html5_links/

based on a previous discussion here about changes to anchor tags in html5.
Of course, I’ve thrown in some fancy css3 stuff as well – it was nice to be
able to make the page completely in Freeway Pro.
