Just wondering if anyone here has developed mobile apps. I’d be interested in any insight on the process.
Thanks.

Well, I’m just starting to understand the process, and like all things web and “i” related, I run up against the programming wall.
I don’t want to make apps for a living or even offer them to clients in the near future, but I’d like to know the difficulty in creating one.

I’m currently in the process of building a simply iOS app in Tumult Hype. There is quite a bit to creating a mobile friendly web app!
However, you can take a mobile web app (HTML, CSS, Javascript, and the like) and get them to run natively using http://phonegap.com
I haven’t used it myself, so I can’t speak for how well it actually works.

Phonegap represents a sort of least-common-denominator approach to making an app. Because the final run-time can be compiled for Android, iOS, and maybe Blackberry (not sure if that last one is true) you don’t get to make anything even close to a real iOS app. For a certain very small subset of the Things You Might Want To Put In An App, it’s just fine.

I’m probably asking for too much, but it would be nice if there was a decent WYSIWYG program for building apps.
