Sorry for the vague and ambiguous entry. I must have been high on all-night web design.
I have OS X 10.4 It’s the one before Leopard. I don’t think it’s a recent update. I just finally clicked the “update” button.
“All Windows” is the function where you can view all of the windows that you are working on at once. It is a keyboard shortcut that allows everything to zoom out so that you can choose a different window. It is by far my favorite Mac function.
Now when I go into the Keyboards and Mouse menu, and go to the shortcuts menu…
If I click on the “All Windows” button, I can no longer enter in just a right shift. I have to do right shift+something.
This might not have even be caused by the update.
All I know is that I used to be able to do the “All Windows” function with the right shift key and now it doesn’t work.
(sorry I haven’t figured out how to quote yet)
"Since I only use the left shift, this button was overly convenient for me. They probably took this ability away so that
So that what? Who did?"
…so that people who didn’t know how to access the keyboard shortcuts wouldn’t accidentally cause the right shift to be activated for something else. For example, when friends used to use my computer, they would always be flustered when their current window would zoom out anytime they were typing. I guess I just didn’t finish my entry. Sorry.
Does anyone know how to override the keyboard shortcuts so that I can get the “all windows” function to work with a RIGHT shift key only?
Thanks in advance.

You’re looking in the wrong place. Go to System Preferences>Dashboard
& Exposé, where you can choose Right Shift for All Windows. Sorry I
didn’t realise what ‘All Windows’ is, it’s not something I use and I
was unaware of what it was called.
best wishes

Wow. I cannot believe that I did not know that. I think that’s how I made it work the first time.
You deserve a trophy, and I deserve a punch in the face.
