Anyone having problems with HaveHost?

I wonder if they’ve been bought out by 1and1 too. Website not working, email not working. What a peculiar day.

Yes, I am. DNS-related stuff with one site on a multi-account this morning. Now the whole lot. I’ve filed a support request. I’d be grateful to know if anyone is having problems, and has heard anything.

Hi All

Two out of three sites I have with Have-Host on a multi-account package are working. Email on one account not working either.

Hi,

1/2 of my sites are down and 1/2 up. Email on one is not working but I did put a tix in and tweeted him.

What do you mean bought out also?

Must have been a blip. Seems to be working now. Nice to keep in touch though.

Sorry, just to jump on this thread about another hosting company.

Does anyone use FreeParking http://www.freeparking.co.uk , or has had any dealings with them?

A client of mine has used them for a couple of years now and about 2 weeks ago I updated his site and it’s still showing the old one. I’ve sent 3 emails to their helpline now and still no answer. Tried ringing, and on hold forever.

I’ve checked via ftp and everything’s in the correct place, so just wondering if anyone knows of them.

thanks, and sorry for the hijack.

Better to create a new post as people that have no interest in HaveHost probably wont read this one.

Hi Trev,

I have registered a few domains through them, but they don’t host any of
them. I edit the DNS to point to wherever the site is.

It was about two years back that I had my last dealings, there was a real
person on the end of a pretty responsive UK number, it must have changed.

Sorry this does not directly answer your dilemma.

Please feed back your continuing experiences with FP, because I certainly
have an interest.

Cheers, and best of luck fixing your problem.

Peter

There were strange things happening over the weekend, I tried to access the
cpanel and it refused my password for a few hours until I gave up and filed
a report [response just today].

Email on at least one [newly created] site was unreliable.

Security Certificate:
I also filed a problem report I have with my iPhone, in that when I try to
send thorough HH I get challenged by the Mail app saying the HH security
certificate is “not trusted”, I noticed it expired 26 March 2010. I did get
a response from James quite quickly asking for more info, I sent some screen
dumps from the phone, but I’ve head no more since. Well actually a message
has just arrived from James, he’s updated the certificate and I don’t get
that message any more.

These problems now seem resolved.

Best wishes Peter

I had a problem back on 2 Dec which required a reboot of the server (I was surprised no one here posted about it since nothing was responding at all), but I haven’t noticed any issues since.

Actually, that’s not completely true. I sent some test emails from my earthlink accounts to a couple of accounts on Have Host and they still have not gotten through. I’ve gotten an automated warning from earthlink about the messages not going through. Meanwhile, I have received other mail on those same accounts.

I think the best way to contact James if you do have a problem is via a support ticket on http://havehost.zendesk.com/ but you probably already knew that.

My sites are currently reachable from home and my blackberry, but apparently not at my wife’s job nor at one of my client sites. I’m guessing a DNS issue, but I’ll put in a ticket and see if they can find anything.

Surely this situation should not happen, since the last debacle I thought
there was 24 hour monitoring, which I assume will alert a tech to go and fix
the problem? Within minutes.

I agree with that, some get through others disappear into the ether and I
don’t even get a failure message? Does that indicate the email has been
received and lost on the final server?

I’ve been trying to log into the cpanel on one of the hosted sites and
cannot, I use 1Password so I KNOW the passwords are correct. This happened
on my main reseller account over the weekend, but now I can get in on that.

The host is becoming and huge unpredictable mess!

Yup.

A reply from James says some of the DNS settings on the server have been “reset,” so some places out there are caching the old info and having trouble getting the new one. It should be a matter of waiting it out and stuff will get through again.

I just realized, I have “Send me an e-mail whenever someone replies to this thread” checked, and I’m not getting those either! Haha.

Am I the only one still having problems? I’ve had no luck getting this fixed since I posted on 16 Dec. While James has responded and asked the techs to look into it, nothing has changed. This is too long to be just having to wait for the DNS to propagate. I’m wondering if the issue is in my config only.

Are your sites working fine, reachable from anywhere?
