I’ve been crawling Apple and similar sites for hours looking for a AHT
disk image to burn so I can check a Power Mac G5 Dual 2.0. The
computer is used so it didn’t come with a AHT disk which I understand
is the norm. If anyone can point me in the right direction (or offer
insight) I would be grateful.
It’s supposed to be on the Software Restore disk 1. You have to hold down a special key to get it to show up also, such as D. It’s different on different Macs.
You might have to find a friend with the same Mac. IIRC, these disks are very specific to the hardware. They may not even work between two different PowerMac G5s, you know, “Fall” vs. “Spring” or whenever Apple updated them.
There probably is a Mac user group in Chicago but I never checked. I
did try restarting with the install disk using different keys (option
and “d”) but there just isn’t anything referring to hardware test. I
believe you’re right, the test is tied to the specific hardware but
I’m unsure if it varies between the same model.
Thanks,
Todd
