AppleWorks "draw mode" documents to Pages or Word

A week or two ago I saw a thread saying Intaglio could open AppleWorks files. Is there a caveat as to what kind of files and or version of MacOS you are running? I have a client who’s MacBook died a horrible death but I have the HD and she has a new MacBook Pro. She used AppleWorks in “draw” mode I believe. It has text neatly laid out to make a flyer. My Intaglio version 3.0.2 will not open or import these documents and I am running Lion 10.7.4. Any suggestions?

If all else fails I will hire a teacher on summer break to use an older computer to open, copy and paste into Pages or Word. The client has more than a thousand files to look at.

I think Adobe Illustrator can open or import Intaglio files - feel free to send me one across to try out and I can report back.
