Applying Actions to Actions - a dilema

I’ve a problem and could use some of your sound advice.

I’m looking at the Showcase Extras Action (http://actionsforge.com/actions/view/226-showcase-extras) at the moment to tighten up the CSS it produces. The problem I have is that at the moment the Action gets applied to the page and tars all of the Showcase galleries with the same (style) brush meaning that they all get the exact same button and overlay treatment.

Ideally I’d change the Action to an item-action and allow the user to piggy-back the Action on top of the Showcase item but unfortunately Freeway doesn’t support applying Actions to other Action items. So the question is this; Do I keep the Action as a page-action and allow the user to target up to a specified number of galleries on the page (10 maybe?) or convert the Action so it can be applied to an item (albeit not the Showcase item) where they can apply as many as they like to items on the page.

At the moment both options look flawed from a user interaction perspective and I’m wondering if there is another option that I’ve missed that will provide the user with a clearer understanding of the intended workflow.

At the moment I’m leaning towards the page-action option simply because it keeps it inline with the existing Action functionality for those migrating from version 1.3 upwards.
Any thoughts?
Regards,
Tim.

Create an Action Object that can be drawn on the page? This will sniff out any Showcase gallery Actions there are and offer a choice of which to apply the settings to.

The preview of this Acton could hint at functionality if you want to be posh.
