I’ve been thinking about this subject for long time, apparently I haven’t been alone.

I totally agree with this approach and plan on doing something similar for my own long overdue website. This approach will also work much better for smaller companies that simply don’t have the staff to generate large volumes of work.

In some ways, portfolios are like restaurant menus… sometimes a nice pic is
all it takes to get someone’s mouth watering. Other times people may not be
as visually stimulated and require more help deciding. Still, some
customers need to be convinced that the price is really worth it.

Case studies are good tools if you have a good story to sell… revealing
your process, sharing your successful outcomes. They are by design meant to
help potential clients trust and connect with you by sharing your recount
of a positive experience.

I think this approach may mean polishing our own PR and copywriting skills,
or partnering with people who already have those skills at the ready. For
many of us, the latter is a good option as we are better at taking care of
others than we are of ourselves.
