Attack of the Forum Backslash

Has anyone noticed a problem with adding Markdown text to their Forum Signature?

I though I’d change some bits in my signature, and on each edit, and extra backslash appears, I’m up to 5 backslashes in edit mode.

Also none of the hyper-links work anymore, now the profiles been edited, yet work correctly in Markdown.

Walter… do you know about this issue?

Wow. That’s a mess. I spent quite a bit of time last week sorting out
a problem in the regular forum. The opposite problem was happening
there – the backslashes were being eaten out of code listings, so
you couldn’t put \n or \t in a post without it becoming just n and t.
I must have tripped over something else in the system when I did
that, because regular markdown is not used when displaying posts –
there’s a lot of additional malarky in there to clean up the old
posts that still had bbcode in them.

I’ll take a look at it and see if I can find the problem.

Dave, could you please try editing your profile again? I cleared out
all of your backslashes in the database manually, and changed one
little bit of code in the core. I need to see if this fixes things
for you.

Fixing this part has meant a retrograde on the use of backslashes in forum posts, and I am still trying to reconcile that issue.

Seems better now, and the Markdown code (links) are working correctly in posts;

But still not in the members details page?;

Can actually you use Markdown in the signature box? Or just in the contact info box?

At the moment, you can only use it in the contact info box. I’ll fix
it later.
