From time to time, you may find that a thread on this Web forum has gotten “split”. I just discovered something that might have been contributing to this.
When you sign up to be notified that a thread has changed, you get an e-mail from auto[at]freewaytalk.net each time it does. That same address is ‘read’ by this Web forum to construct the threads. So if you had a vacation reminder (as quite a few persons did) that was watching your mail, you might have replied to that message. And the result would be that the thread would split at that point, because the message headers would be all wrong.
So from now on, the thread update reminders are coming from do-not-reply[at]freewaytalk.net, and hopefully this particular problem will stop happening.
There’s still the issue with Gmail, I have not nailed that one down yet.
