Best practive for image formats

I know this is probably a basic newbie question…

I have a question which i suppose is not strictly Freeway Pro but it based around the fact that i want to insert a graphic into Freeway Pro and want the best looking quality -

With the Graphic/Logo software which i use, which is the best image export option to use for a Logos, buttons etc ? I have jpg, png, gif, Tiff & EPS ? and all of these have a dpi setting?

The reason why i ask is that some graphics i am importing into Freeway look terrible and bitmaped (but look perfect in my design package)

Another question - If i import a logo graphic into a Graphic box in freeway it can sometimes look bitmaped however if i import it into a black html box it looks great?

And my last question - Is the Text graphic tool in Freeway more than suitable for a professional look? or would you suggest creating logos in another package and importing it into freeway?

Thanks
Steve

Hi Steve

As a rough rule try and make sure the images you are importing are larger than the picture box you are importing them into Freeway. This lowing in size will help to boost the quality if it’s lacking in the original image. Then in the inspector palette look at how Freeway is exporting that image into your site folder.

Photos are best set as .jpg - adjust the % quality setting
Logo’s text and graphics with flat colour areas use .gif or .png - adjust the antialias colour to tidy the edge if the background needs to be transparent and match a background colour.
Fine blends and the best quality photos use .png with colours set to millions (downside much, much bigger file sizes).
