Blog question

Hi, Gang –

I’ve downloaded Dan Jasker’s very good video tutorial on how to do a blog using Freeway Pro 5.

Question - I have an existing website called TThe 60 Second Marketer. I have a separate blog using Google’s Blogger program call 60 Second Marketer Blog.

I’d like to create a page within my existing website that houses the blog. In other words, I’d like to update my blog every day within my website as opposed to what I do now (which is to update it outside the website using Blogger).

Can I do that with FreeWay Pro 5? If so, is there any additional documentation on that (other than what’s on the site here)?

Thanks,
Jamie

Simple answer - No

The blog tools are to help you create a template for the right look and feel that you may well want to match your website but once you are done it is only that - a template - and you have to update the content of that blog in blogger.

I don’t think there is any reason that you cannot then include access to your blog in an iFrame within your site but it will not be editable from within FW.

I agree with DeltaDave.

As far as updating the site you’d have to use Blogger to do so anyways. You could setup an FTP published blogspot page which would mean it would publish itself on your server (thus you’d have instead of a username.blogspot.com it’d be “example.com/blog” ), but you’d have to “blog” your stuff still in Blogger anyways for it to show up.

Those seem to be your options that I would know of.

Excellent. Thanks guys.

Given your comments, is it possible to create a header in the blog that looks and acts like the header in my website? In other words, can I add the logo, the header, the links, etc. into the template so that the visitors to the blog would easily link back to my home page, my comments page, etc.?

The site can be seen at www . 60SecondMarketer . com

You could make it look like the same thing as your site now. Same graphics, same logos, etc. Just make the links absolute in your link panel to go back and forth. Absolute meaning instead of internal page links you’d have to click the external button and put in the full “http://www.60SecondMarketer.com” address or to a specific page using the full address.

Glad to see my screen-cast’s have helped.

Thanks for the clarification. Will do.

Yes, the screen-cast was very helpful. It was the first time that I went “Aha! This isn’t so complex.”

Thanks for all your help.

See you,
Jamie

You could create a frameset, with two frames, the top 1px high, the main frame below containing the page from blogger.

The the main fameset could be targeted with www.mysite/blog

as long as you have links back into your main site have _parent included.

That’s if you don’t have any issues using frames. It could be said your fooling the user where the actual blog page is.
