I am going to be creating a website similar to the one i listed in the example. I want to be able to have people log on and post articles or thoughts or whatever is on their mind. How can I do this in freeway?

Hmmm - Freeway is generating code. By this means that you need third party stuff for creating Login and Blog.
The page you pointed to is WordPress which is naturally built exactly for those purposes. The point up to my experience is, that most bigger CMS’es (built on PHP, MySQL) require the “other-way-round” thinking which means:
Function first, design later.
Doing all this in a self-made manner is possible but honestly difficult to imagine.
Just a few of my cents.
