Wow … although I got a little suspicious about this, 25GB seems a bit excessive for a free service, I’ve signed up.
Tnx Todd!

Your welcome, Richard. I was suspicious too, but I figured what the hell.

Now you can get 50GB free if you don’t already have an account. Sorry Richard and Todd!

When creating multiple accounts are the ‘box’ folders it places in the Home folder appended with your email address? For example: ‘box(email@hidden)’? There doesn’t seem to be any way to rename them from within the box account and renaming the local folder does nothing, each time it syncs it creates a new folder with the original name. Just curious.

How do you go about using this backup space? I did hope I could put aliases into my “box documents” folder on my computer and the files would be uploaded but that didn’t work. I’m reluctant to break my current folder arrangements by having to move originals that I want backed-up all into the one “box” folder.

Did you install the Box app preference pane? It can be downloaded from your account. It will automate syncing between your Mac and the account.

Hi Todd
Yes, I’ve got the pref pane installed but so far the only way I can get it to sync is to move the files into the folder called “Box Documents” first. I had hoped placing aliases in the folder would have allowed syncing to take place but that doesn’t seem to be the case. I’ll continue to try all the options to see how best to use it.
All the best

That’s an interesting idea, too bad it doesn’t work. I dragged the Box folder into the Finder sidebar then I just drag-n-drop files. But I like your idea better.

I tried this with a symbolic link which, a bit like a super alias, should act at such a low level that most software just assumes it is the real file or directory. Maybe I made a mistake creating it in Terminal but Box refused to follow the link and backup my photos folder.
For those that want to try here is the guide I followed;

Even worse when I try to upload a folder I get an error message about having too slow an internet connection, yet files upload without issue.
