Can Freeway do what WordPress does?

I am trying to set up a website for a book I am having published this year. The publisher pushed me toward Wordpress, but I am totally flummoxed on how to work with their templates.

What I would like to know is of Freeway5.5 can allow me to do the following:

Host a blog on the same server and url as my website (e.i. not have the blog over on WordPress.

Allow video (My experience in doing video on FW5.5 has been painful.

I am not an HTML code person.

Thanks.

Define what you mean by blog in this case. What features of the classical “blog” do you need? Frequent posts, comments, archives, pingbacks, etc.?

If your needs are fairly simple, you can do an awful lot with Freeway and a third-party blog tool like Perch. You manage the details of the layout in Freeway, and the dynamic stuff is handled by the server-side Perch tools. When you want to post a new missive, you go to your admin page (in a browser) and enter the content. If you need comments, you can use Disqus to add them – it’s a two-line copy and paste into a Markup item in your layout.

Here’s an example of freeway combining with Perch:

And the perch blog with Disqus comments:

Perch will allow video uploads too.

Probably the easiest route to embed a blog into a Freeway page is to use PulseCMS

Just add a single line of code into to a HTML box on a Freeway page, change the file name to blog.php and you’re off.

Comes with comments, RSS feed and even URL rewrites.

You can use the PulseCMS tools to embed video

Thanks David

This looks like a very good add on for me.

Agree with David in that Pulse is the easiest to use and the only code if code averse is: HTML box> insert Crowbar action>place code supplied by Pulse when you create a ‘block’.

I’m actually about to tackle a site using Perch so its really a case of your requirements but to be honest I’m so tempted to stick with Pulse as I find it so easy. Perch will just give me a few more options that might be required.
