Can freeway help?

I have been asked to maintain this site for the local high school football team. http://www.ocelotiz.com/shfootball/#
It was not made with Freeway. The designer wants some control over how things are updated. He is asking that I use css to add content. Is there some way I can import the layout into Freeway. Last year I rebuilt his site from scratch which turned out to be many hours of donated time. Or should I pass this job off to a PC person.
Thanks for you advice.

I think you mean CMS to add content. A content management system.

Without rebuiding the site in Freeway and adding something like WebYep you are going to have a problem.

I take it there is no CMS built in already - if that is the case then it is going to require a fair bit of work to add anyway, whether it is in Dreamweaver or anything else. Do you know what software created it?

Personally I think I would walk away from something like this where the

The designer wants some control

For “some” read “total”!

You are not going to be paid for this headache are you?

Thats my 2cents.

Frankly, I’m with Dave on this. From what you’ve said, brief though
that was, it sounds like you’re being asked to be a basic ‘web
monkey’. It almost certainly will require a lot more work than
people realise. Personally, I would definitely pass.

If you give the guy the header with the menu links, you can then just add a couple of WebYep Rich Text fields to all the pages and that’s his CMS. Tell him he has to buy the WebYep license, which is about $35, and let him handle all his own updates. Tell him he also has to pay for the WebYep Suite of Actions that makes it easy to use with Freeway, about $40. I can see why he wants to do his own updates, because it’s one of “those kind” of sites. If you use WebYep, you are giving him the framework and he’s putting in the text. I’ve done quite a few sites with WebYep for people who want to do their own updates.

Thank you for your advice. I was told that all content would be added using CSS, Cascading Style Sheets. It looks like nothing but data entry. Rather boring and not very creative.
I believe the site was built using Dreamweaver.
I think i’ll ask if i can set up the site in Freeway and see where the conversation goes. I hate to give up the job. No pay, many hours but the reward of hearing the boys’ excitement when they see their actions shots (mine) is worth all the time. Giving back is a good thing.

Thank you for the information about WebYep. I have not heard about them before. Once the framework of the site is complete he would hand it off. I would be the one to maintain it. I’m going to talk to him some more. Freeway is “my” only answer.
Thanks
