Yup, I see the problem, and the reason for it. I’ve revved the Action to fix it.
If you did not create your own link on the direction buttons, then the Action made one for you, but I forgot to quote the href value. This is why the buttons would not work reliably.
Also there’s an early version of the Carousel Tabs action. It is very incomplete, so don’t use it without expecting it to fail. You must wrap your tabs with a div called ‘controls’ before the buttons will work, I am adding that to the action when I get a chance.
Just tried applying the revved action, but the same behaviour with the buttons happened

There’s something very odd about the HTML that your layers are creating. They seem to be missing their outer shell somehow. Either Freeway or the Action has skipped directly into the content of each layer.
Try the following steps, and see if you get a working carousel. Please also send me your current document so I can see how you have built the current incarnation.
Draw an HTML box the size you want your carousel to be. This will be the first pane of your carousel. Name it appropriately.
Style this box with border, background color, whatever you like.
Draw additional content for your first pane as either children or inline elements of this parent HTML box.
Select the first pane, and duplicate it in place. Change the name, content, etc.
Repeat as necessary to build up all of your options.
Drag a selection rectangle around the corner of your stack of panes, and Group the collection.
Drag a selection rectangle around the group, so that you are certain to have selected the group rather than one element of the group, and apply the Action.
Create your forward/back buttons and apply the Carousel Button action to them.
I have the visual problems solved, but now there is an offsettop
error in IE’s bargain-basement JavaScript interpreter. Give it
another day or so and I should have it fixed.

Don’t get too excited, I would not use this in prime time, as IE

I mean at the moment the action for making buttons to drive the carousel only allows for previous and next whereas I would like to create buttons that take you to a specific layer in the stack…
If you’ve got the latest version of the action from Walter’s site, create a set of graphic item 1,2,3 etc , and apply the carousel tab action to each, from the item menu, then select the name of the layer to go to, from a drop down menu in the actions palette, (its easier if you name the layer to something sensible before you start.)

Any idea where to get this latest version of the action? I followed the link that was posted earlier on in this thread and it only contains the carousel and carousel button actions but not the carousel tab action. Is there a link to the latest version of the action?
It’s in there. You have to have a graphic or pass-through image
selected before you will see it appear in the Item > Actions menu.

Yeah, problem was solved by David at Printline - action working
beautifully for me so far. Does everything I was hoping and more…!
Except it is horribly broken in IE Windows, which I am working on,
but haven’t fixed yet.
The thing is, it just works beautifully in the original demo, on all
platforms. But when I try to recreate that exact code with Freeway, I
run into trouble with the relative/absolute positioning of child
elements on the panes. (The original demo just has plain inline
construction within the panes.)
I went a long way down the rabbit hole last night, trying to route
around the problem, but it didn’t work on any platform once I was
done. So I reverted back, and am trying to think out another solution
to the Windows problem. Maybe a nice big EMP over Redmond (timed
neatly to coincide with Tim being back in the UK).
