I am not sure who maintains this web site, which is great mind you - very helpful but I was just wondering whether it’s possible to include another column to it that references the original author’s name/handle.
I realize I can go to the “People” tab and search all threads created by that person, but if it was visible on the main FreewayTalk page, that would make it easier to know which threads you created.
Not sure what others think but just wondering if it could be added?
I subscribe to the lists using a Gmail account which shows me the thread starter and last poster even on very long threads. Walter’s interface is more pleasant and works well in most browser and screen situations – I don’t think I’d change that. Instead I’d suggest a free gmail account for you to subscribe to the lists with. Gmail is web accessible, wonderfully searchable, oodles of storage and absolutely free. It isn’t as pretty as Walt’s but will do what you are asking. Send me an email directly and I’ll be happy to hook you up.

I’ve had a look at this, and it would be easy enough to add ($author->link_for('name')), but I’m not sure where it could fit, physically. We’re already crowded horizontally. Every additional column takes away more width from the subject, which then gets pushed down to even more lines.
One thing that occurs to me would be to stack it in the right-most column, change that column from ‘latest from’ to ‘by’ and have the originator and the latest updater listed there.
Just wanted to ask how the “Updated” column gets calculated b/c I just updated my “Page Dimension” thread and it said that it was last updated 10 hours ago.
Check that your browser understands what time zone it lives in. I use
a JavaScript “humanizing” script to turn the raw dates into something
friendlier. It has always worked for me here, but perhaps that’s a
coincidence. Can anyone in a different time zone than the server
please let me know whether this works?

Walt, there is one more enhancement I would like to see. Sometimes the unread post count shows that there are posts I haven’t read. For some reason I can never find them and I have to resort to clearing out the setting in my account panel.
It would be really helpful if unread posts were identifiable as a different color so I could easily find them int the list.
I will have to see if that’s possible. Right now, I store the unread messages in a separate lookup table, and run a very efficient calculation against that table to get the total number of unread messages in each forum. When you visit a thread that has unread messages in it, I simply add the current number of unread messages in that thread to your counter. Both of these operations avoid the need to track individual messages, which I resist because it would mean a lot more work on each page view.
Ok, I understand. However, there is something causing the red unread counter to display a number that it appears to not reflect my actual viewed posts status. I currently see 2 unread posts indicated for FreewayTalk, but there are no unread posts listed on the Home page under the forums I follow.
I saw that as well. I just reset the counter manually.
