Totally un-Freeway connected…but how the hell do I get Chinese fonts to work on my Mac?
I have several Chinese fonts and have recently been given another, along with a Word document which I have to beautify in Freehand or InDesign.
If I copy and paste the Chinese from the Word doc into Freehand or InDesign I just get a bunch of weird characters and symbols.
What would Confucius do?

Have never actually done it but I think that you go into System Preferences 安定Under Input Sources Enable whatever Chinese language selection you want。
痛恨把
Then in the Apple Menu bar (where the country flag is) choose the Chinese set that you want and open your document.

Hi Dave,
Thanks for that. I tried, but ‘enabling’ is never quite as easy as it sounds…!
I just wish there was one simple ‘enable’ button
In the end I gave up. We got the word documents, made screendumps of them, cut up the ‘images’ in Photoshop, and stuck them into Freehand as tifs.
Was probably quicker!
