Client Wants Site With Total Control

Which means that they cant really bu**er it up except by adding too much content, too large images etc.

Dave is on the ball. Text for the client is pretty difficult to mess up though you might have to slap their wrists if they go near the color swatches in the editor, the design will soon look like a minced up rainbow if you don’t. Images are slightly more problematic as that is the area they will have least experience. So you will have to find how savvy they are and what software if any they have. If none I’ve directed clients to http://pixlr.com/ Open to other suggestions for ease of image optimisation.

For h1, h2, etc. then style the div (in your FW design) you will place the Pulse markup embedded code. Others can explain that more eloquently than I can if a problem.

Remember you have to create the Pulse ‘Block’ first to get the code. So if you have, for example, two areas of text on a home page you might call the blocks home_one and home_two to identify them.

Otherwise Pulse is so easy (compared to other cms) even I can use it. It is I admit getting slightly more involved as they now incorporate ‘Pages’ and templates that use Kube css but the core Pulse is still there and easy.

I was thinking in this case, to just use Pulse alone, not incorporating it into FW pages.

Why? If you are not familiar with Pulse page creation/styling etc. then is it not more effort to get where you want to go than the same job in FW.

And as the majority of most sites remains unchanged there is less chance of Clients messing up if you restrict them to clearly defined ‘editable areas’.

Well, I need a responsive site, also, which I’m not able to do at the moment.

And, I’ll also need to add a blog.

A simple and super effective blog is part of Pulse.

And you can do responsive sites with FW.

Never having used either, is there much difference between WebYep and Plus?

Well, I would say responsive sites can be done in FW, but I can’t do one! Not in the time frame I need one at the very least…

Caleb has his backdraft template: http://blog.calebgrove.com/2013/02/backdraft-responsive-template.html for FW.

Not sure if there are other FW responsive templates out there.

Then the Pulse templates might be the way to go. I’ve used the Pulse basic template a couple of times and currently working on a site with the ‘Segment’ template.

Thanks. Yes, I know about Caleb’s stuff. I really need to purchase that at some point.

I might just try Pulse from the start on this one.

Still weighing the advantages/disadvantages of using a Weebly/WIX/Squarespace solution. Each one has something I don’t like about them. Plus, the client has a cheap host right now and I’m not sure he’ll want to spend the money for one of those.

They’re a mom and pop kind of deal. Wife wrote some books, they have a very small niche with their subject matter, too.

In other words - No budget!

Are you feeling generous?

We’ve been pretty generous so far. They’re very nice people and the subject she writes about is very personal and this is kind of like part of her therapy…sort of…

We’re doing what we can.

I feel like Jim Rockford sometimes (for those who remember the show). Come the end of the project (case), I’m lucky if I’m not OUT money, rather than making any.
