Can anyone sing the praises of http://codeigniter.com/ to make me look at it a bit deeper?
Anyone worked with it before?

I’ve mentioned/suggested CI a couple times the last few weeks. I
started learning it on a casual basis several months ago but have only
recently been working with it in earnest for a personal project.
Having cut my teeth with Walter’s MAR framework (and a Fat Book of
PHP) that experience has helped smooth the CI learning curve a little.
CI is very well documented and given that EllisLab oversees it I feel
good about it’s quality and future development.
My experience with it so far has been great and it appears to be a
very clean, capable and impressive framework.
