Collect like a mobster

I have to admit to having done this kind of thing once or twice - and while I do not recommend being this level of hard-ass, as a freelancer your religion should be Getting Paid.

Thank you for sharing!

I have a current client that I have sent a certified letter to to get paid. I hate chasing.

Yeah, I have a deadbeat client as well. Now I know why most of my colleagues chart 50% upfront.

Behave like a professional and have a solid contract-detailing the deliverables and deadlines-make sure that it gets signed by both you and the client. Do not start a project without at least 30 to 50% upfront. Remember to issue change orders when the scope of the project changes from the original bid.

If a client is not willing to agree with your terms, it’s the wrong client and move on.
