I frequently need to design mini-sites or store headers that need to mimic the design of existing sites.
I am having a bad time in Freeway getting the colors to match. Even when I plug in the hexidecimal code for the color, they seem to be off. I have tried checking/unchecking “permanent” and “web safe”, but the colors are just never right.
I have even taken a screenshot of the existing site, gone into photoshop and viewed the color that the system thinks it is to try and match it- no luck.
Is this a bug? Does Freeway handle colors through quicktime, or is it a discrepancy with the decoding done by my graphics card?
When using Photoshop to determine the color from a photo jpeg make sure you zoom in the maximum amount so that the pixels are gigantic. It is much easier to select individual colored pixels this way. Of course with solid colors it won’t make any difference “assuming” the color is solid.
As long as you have truly picked the correct hex color code the color will match in Freeway.
Also, in Photoshop, be sure to set the (main menu) View/Proof Setup to
Monitor RGB. Photoshop tries like mad to “soft proof” everything you
see on screen, and this continues into the colors it reports to you in
the color palette and the Info panel.
