Comments please before I progress

http://www.rogerburton.co.uk/test/

I’ve had this idea for a while and I intend to, obviously, add a little more content. The animation is probably a little too distracting and I may therefore make it ‘static’ but, more from a technical viewpoint, some comments please. ie it seems to work OK on Safari and Firefox but the background image’s transparency doesn’t work in Explorer - I can get around this by not having transparency and just making the “grid” fade into white but does that make the file bigger or is the alpha channel have an effect on the page file size (I can check this out by experimenting but would like any thoughts please).

Also as I’m experimenting and going to add more pages and effects as I go along - every time I upload the new version, Freeway creates and “adds” the new code. Is this the way to go or does the code get messed up (I’m probably not explaining my fears very well).

Looking forward to any comments - Regards Roger

Interesting look. The animation is cool, but it does take a bit to download all the frames. During that download time the animation is herky jerky which may be a bit off putting for some, especially if it is keeping important information from being displayed until the dowload is complete.

The background grid shouldn’t be a problem if you keep it in the background and don’t put anything behind it.

Thanks chuckamuck - I’ve tried it out on a couple of machines both PC and Mac and it’s not too bad, maybe I’ll check out one of those optimisation programmes to see if I can get the file size down a bit. Thanks for taking the time to add a comment - Roger
