Google now rank sites higher according to page size/load.
I have been asked to ‘compress’ the css files.
I have seen that the ‘Externalize’ action from Tim does offer the option of compacting both the css and javascript, but by doing this breaks the css menus and the lightbox effect.
Has anyone else been successful with compressing? I’m assuming that any external compression gets overwritten by FW.

Think more along the lines of condensing. If you create a ton of custom styles in Freeway, then yes I’m sure some condensing could be done. Compacting really involves both condensing your styles and removing any white space from the styling document as a way to cut down on byte-size. The first part you have control over, the second not so much unless you use an external editor which opens up another can of worms.
(That’s where style1, style2, style3 causes trouble.)
Great Thanks Dan… yes my style sheet inside FW for this particular site (it was created quite a while ago) does have alot of styles that could do with condensing down.
