Conflict with graphic box layers

Hello everyone. Hope you are all well. I have a small conflict I need help with… I have tried to figure it out but we all know how that goes…

I have Freeway Pro

and working with Rollover and hide slave image on layers.
Some larger graphic images are fine and others have a slight gray border on one side. I have adjusted images ect, puling in the graphic box but nothing helps

here is my site: I have only worked on the top images on grid so far when I got stuck. 3 images work fine and the other two have a border on one side

Thanks

I am not sure about your conflict but for me this just does not look right.

There is no clear definition between the pop up layers and the underlying graphics - it just seems to meld into an indistinguishable melange for me.

I think you need more contrast to make this work.

Hi Dave How are you…

I understand your point but this is a work in progress. Right now I have the mouseover on smaller image instead of the click but I amy change that. I also may put a light grey border around large image, which will be defined
and solve the border problem.
Thanks for your input

I see what you’re saying. For example, when you mouse over the third
image from the left (top row), the large image has a thin grey line
down the left side. Same goes for the second image from the right.
That large image has a thin grey line down the right side, and you
want to know why those lines are appearing because you don’t have them
in your graphics. I have run across this before and I’m not sure what
I did or what caused it, so I’m not any help. But I do know what you
are talking about, and adjusting the graphics inside the graphic box
doesn’t get rid of the lines.

Have you done anything to it since posting? Because I’m not seeing the line here (Safari 3).

I do know what you’re talking about – I’ve seen these rules before, they always happen in GIF images that have white backgrounds when the original is much larger (lots of scaling happening). If you look in Photoshop, the line is actually a 1px dashed line of white and very faint gray. I think it’s a bug in the Freeway resizing guts.

Setting a white border on the inside of the image box effectively removes the problem.

Take a look in Freeway at the File > Document setup dialog. What is
the setting of the Document graphics picker on the Document segment,
and what is the setting for DIther images with 256 or fewer colors on
the Graphics segment?

I have them at Millions and Off, respectively, and recall dimly that
there was a problem like this with the thin gray lines when these
preferences were set to different settings. Mind you, we are talking
seriously years ago, but I may have set these prefs and they stuck,
so I haven’t seen the problem in years.

General tip: If you have no documents open, anything you set in File

Document Setup will become the new global default for that
setting. This is not going to change any existing documents, but it
will change any documents you start fresh from that point on.

Finally, you might want to set up a workflow where you sketch out
your layout the way you want, get all the images resized and cropped
to fit your design, then duplicate the published Resources folder, go
through the images therein using Photoshop, and make new master
versions to size (using Photoshop’s vastly more configurable resize
tools) and export them using Save for Web. Then back in Freeway,
bring these right-sized images back in as pass-through images, which
will keep Freeway from doing anything to them at all.

Hello again everyone

so I contacted softpress and they sent me the action rollover 60/target image 60. and that way I can have the 28 images on my page. All works well.
At first it did not work with Target image/hide layer, so I changed it to hide image instead

I have one question: what is the difference between hide layer & hide image and why did it not work?

Thanks to all… I am still have the light grey lines on some images yet to be resolved

You mean http://www.carlagrande.com/bluelogan/

You need that trailing slash to make it work.

Strange goings on here - I am not getting any images displaying at all. (BTW you have one page called bio’s.html - dont use apostrophes etc in file names like this)

I cant fathom this out at all. Is FW uploading this for you or are you using Transmit or similar?

Dave

I changed the Bio name. The funny thing is that just today before I added the Rollover 60 actions, the Rollover 20 and target images worked prefectly

the only reason I added action is that I have 28 images I need to connect

Ugh

Thanks for you advise anyway

I will have to wait for the Softpress guys in the morning

Remember that you can use Rollover 20 with different target groups ie Indigo, aqua, cadmium etc.

This gives you 20 rollovers per group ie 20 with aqua, 20 with cadmium, 20 with indigo etc - so plenty for your needs!

what is the difference between hide layer and hide image

I still do not understand it
Thanks Dave

what is the difference between hide layer and hide image

I believe it is simply that hide image can be an unlayered image but hide layer has to be - just that - a layer (A layer can contain both HTML items and graphic items)

Actually, it’s not only wrong to put it in a filename, it’s wrong to
use it too; plurals in English don’t have apostrophes, so the correct
way to write the plural of ‘bio’ is ‘bios’.
