Contact page email isn't contacting me!

My contact queries aren’t being routed to my email. GoDaddy hosts the site. Has anyone had similar issues?

A couple of quick questions.

You know the email is not routing as you have tried filling in the form and submitting it and nothing arrives in your inbox?

Are you using your own email to send to your own email account? Is email hosted at GoDaddy or elsewhere?

Do you need to use some port other than 25 for SMTP to keep GoDaddy happy? Maybe try 587?

Yes to your 1st question.

#2 No I’m sending a response from another email account and yes GoDaddy is the host for the email.

Not sure what you mean on question #3?

Yes many with GoDaddy. Are you using the PHP Feedback Form action?

PHPFF and GoDaddy are not happy bedfellows - basically because GD run some sort of weird and wonderful PHP configuration.

This means many hoops to be jumped - have you enabled all the GD specific things in the action (Advanced Options) and followed GD’s instructions that are linked from the action.

What version of the action are you using - latest is 2.3.7

Also have you enabled separate error pages for each error (Not in domain, server failure, invalid email) and see what which one (if any) you get.

Also post a link to your page.

I see it from your other thread.

You should also correctly name your name and email fields - at the moment they are item5 and item6

In the inspector with the field selected look at the 3rd tab - the Name: Values in here should be “name” and “email” (Lower case without the quotes) and give your message field a name too, currently item7 “comments” would be sensible.

Also note that the page does NOT require the .php file extension (contrary to the FW tutorial). When you change it to .php you lose the ability to preview it locally.

All the php is created by the action in a separate file, “contactpage-go.php” in your case, and the php extension is done for you.

so should the file extension be html?

If you want to preview locally yes - but it is not a factor in whether the form works or not.

Still not working after having done all GD specific things in the action (Advanced Options) and followed GD’s instructions that are linked from the action.

Any other suggestions???

Have you enabled the separate error pages - do you get any errors?

Any other suggestions???

Change hosting provider.

This is a very difficult one to diagnose without access to your server.

There are many but is it to just host this site or a few more as well.

David Owen at http://www.ineedwebhosting.co.uk/ offers attractive packages and is a generous contributor at FWT.

His cheapest package is less than GD offer!
