Anyone had any success with this? I’ve tried a demo of an app on PC but it didn’t work and forced a restart. I’ve got just one 800k file to convert, so don’t really want to spend any money if I don’t have to, not in the budget. Actually it doesn’t have to be a PDF, just any format that Freeway will accept.
K. Adobe Illustrator supports .DWG files and can export to PDF. You
can import native Illustrator files into FW anyway. If you haven’t got
a copy yourself you can find a friend who has to convert it for you.
(I have CS3).

Thanks Colin. I did try that before posting but I only have Illustrator CS which cannot Open or Place the .dwg file. Although the file when saved out of an email immediately defaulted to an Illustrator icon. But if CS3 can handle this I think I may have a chum who can do this for me.
Solidworks has a free viewer that can open dwg, dxf files. Although you can’t edit the files, you can print them. The view it gives you is color on a black background, but this is not what prints. So you can open a dwg file, then print it to a pdf file and end up with a nice black on white Autocad drawing. From there you can open the drawing in any application that can open a pdf file.
Although AI can open .dwg files, it cannot open every version of .dwg file such as the latest versions from Autodesk.
