Cool idea, needs Action-izing

There may already be an Action for the various “Digg sites”, to add the little badges to your page in Freeway. I was looking at Aza Raskin’s blog recently, where he had posted an idea to screen out the social sites that people don’t use, rather than showing every living one of them. (I had no idea there were that many!)

But further down in the comments, some bright soul had an even simpler and clearer idea: using the :visited CSS selector to do this for you.

In supported browsers, you could probably do the same sort of thing in CSS.

.social { display: none; }
:visited + .social { display: inline; }

Yes, and the above can even be made to work in IE6:

<style>
.social {display: none}
.social:visited {display: block}
</style>
<a class="social" href="http://digg.com/"><script src="http://digg.com/tools/diggthis.js" type="text/javascript"></script></a>

So simple, and just crying out for inclusion in an Action.

Yeah, i’d love to see a digg it button that could be placed. It’s easy for people to digg what you wrote, but an action would be useful to drop in the code.

Good ole Digg.com
