Cool new site

…if I do say so myself, with much of the credit for the coolness going to Walter’s Carousel Action!

(Yes, there’s a video that automatically plays on the home page, but it’s not loud music so you can stop it if you need to.)

One of the neat things I was able to pull off is that it’s all one page, except for the stills link, which he will maintain himself.

Very cool, and I really like the graceful way you have dealt with the
iphone/touch issue, too. Nicely done!

I see the carousel on the bottom, but a giant quicktime logo…implying things are missing. I have quicktime installed and that was on the latest Safari.

The QT movies play fine for me… and I just updated QT last night…
Joy!

Both work fine from here in Firefox and Safari.

On the Dark Side, movie works, carousel doesn’t in both IE7 and Firefox.

If you see a big blue Q without a question mark, it means the movie is still loading. Some of the clips are big and can take a while to load. If you see a question mark overlaid on the Q, please let me know as there might be something missing.

I just tried the carousel in IE7 (XP) and it works fine, though maybe I had to click on it more than once to get it to go. It also worked for me on Firefox (XP). Thanks for checking, though! I had only checked IE6 so far. The client is a Mac user and we expect many of the directors that hire him will be too.

I just had to make it work on touch devices once I found out the client owned an iPhone. Now, he can whip it out to show potential employers his site, as well as show them examples of what he’s talking about - “make it look like this!” I like to give clients those unexpected extras when I can.

Maybe my system is not working properly considering other people see video clips, but I click on the links in the carousel and nothing happens. I loaded up the “Activity” window in Safari and no “.mov” files are even loading and I click on the video thumbs in the carousel and the run script does nothing. According to your code a “DemoOpen.mov” should be loading, but it doesn’t over here. I have javascript enabled and the standard install of Safari 3.1.

Strange.

That is odd, Mitchell. Even odder is that when I opened the Activity window in Safari, I don’t see DemoOpen.mov listed there either, though it still loads and plays. Perhaps that is because the QT plug-in is what loads the movies, not the browser, making the loading of the clips transparent to Safari.

Maybe something is messed up with your QuickTime, but I cannot imagine what. The only other thing that strikes me is your hardware. I just tried the site on my Cube running the latest Tiger updates and I don’t see the clips, just the controller.

If it helps I’m running 10.5.2 Leopard with the latest Quicktime Pro version 7.4.5. I’m also on a Powerbook G4 making it a PPC.

But hey, if you can see it and other people can see it, then it must be something in-between.

Thanks. On my iMac G5 (PPC as well) I’m running all the same latest Safari, QuickTime, and Leopard, and it’s fine.

It’s fine for the client too, and he’s sending it out to people, so we’ll see what the response is.
