Copy and paste from one site to another

Hi chaps, this is clever of Freeway but I’m worried - I have a site with a simple gallery on created with a load of thumbnails and when you roll over them there’s a larger version, I used ‘target image’, I wanted the same thing on another site so I copied and pasted the item and it worked !!! when I published the site the assets are now in the ‘resources’ folder (though not in the ‘media’ folder - is it that simple or is something going to bite me in the bum ? Remember, the Media folder is ONLY and PURELY there to encourage you
to be organised and tidy with your original source graphics. There’s
nothing magic about it at all.

Whereas the Resources folder that’s in site your published site
folder IS - in a sense - magic. This is where Freeway puts the
graphics and other files that it generates from your page layouts
that the code references.

You can import and use graphics from anywhere on your Mac or even
across your network. As long as they’re not removed, Freeway will
find them when producing the output (and generatingthe web-optimised
images to put in the Resources folder). But if you do remove them
then Freeway may lose track of the originals, which can lead to
quality problems when publishing.

This is why it is generally recommended that you use your Media
folder, so that you know where all the items that site needs are
kept, and you won’t inadvertently remove something that’s put on a
page in a Freeway layout while doing some general housekeeping in a
different part of your Mac.

Excellent thanks Keith, so to be tidy I should put the images in the media folder and then re-link to them ?

I recommend this, but only to be tidy, as you say, and to avoid
possible hiccups later regarding you removing items that your site
actually references.

However, with Freeway 5, you don’t need to do this manually. Instead,
just choose File > Archive and pick a location. You’ll be asked to
name the folder this creates, and inside that you’ll get your Freeway
site document, a folder called “Site Folder” where the document will
be set to publish into, and a folder called “Media”… with every
element that your site uses (that isn’t currently 'missing of course)
copied inside - and with the file references set to use those items
rather than the far-flung original items.

Neat, huh? (Boy, did that ever sound American!)
