Combine this with these courses: http://mijingo.com/products/screencasts/craft-cms-tutorial/ and you’re all set. It’s a great CMS.

When running Craft locally via MAMP under server-name craft.dev it will enable you to run the CraftPro version for free. That will give you all opportunities to fully discover Craft.

Have you used Craft for production? It looks very sharp. I learned of it when it was favorably mentioned in a non-Craft CMS review.

I was diving into Expression Engine, it’s big brother so to speak. Pixel & Tonic, responsible for Craft, provided the top nudge of EE plugins (still do), and you’ll see the resemblance between both Craft and Expression Engine.

Apart from my absolute interest in Walter’s CMS project, looking for a good allround CMS I already had a copy of the EE Action Suite and the videocasts of Dan Jasker in my possession. I happen to get in touch with a dutch EE professional who also showed me the beta of Craft. About a year later I picked up where I left off and bought the courses of both Learning Expression Engine and Learning Craft.

But no … I’ve not (yet) incorporated Craft into a live project, but when you already have the Mijingo tutorials you’ll see how they approach this. You start up with a static site and replace parts of static area’s for EE or Craft (database) connections.

Even before I read about the tie-in between the two apps my first impression of Craft was, “I’ve seen this before. It reminds me of EE.” Now I know why.

I finally got around to some light testing of Craft … pretty nice.
Definitely worth a closer look.
