Hi Julie

You are getting there

On your own site the couple of things that are most obvious to me are

Services - The 2 blocks of text (one para and one list) appear to be in 2 different HTML boxes and they overlap so I cannot read “Tools available include”

Examples - Same thing - 2 HTML boxes - this time with different fonts.

Contact - My personal preference when laying out a form like this is to create a table and insert the form elements into that. It is far easier to make dropdowns and text boxes align. Heres a simple example http://www.deltadzine.net/form.php

And yes your puzzle pieces are vastly improved!

Thank you for the tweaks - more homework … yeah!! LOL

I like that… But I do have a table that I am using… …

ok so take out the choices??? - actually make them drop downs
instead… got it…
And thank you on the puzzle pieces!

I will repost when I am done.

Thank you again Dave

Hi Julie, just had a quick look at your site, and the main thing to
hit me is the mixture of typefaces: on your homepage it’s Times italic
(or similar), on the About Us page is Times regular (or similar) on
Services it’s Helvetica normal & italic (or similar) and on Contact us
there’s a bit of Papyrus thrown into the mix. I reckon it would look a
lot more professional if you stuck to the one typeface - maybe with
something different, or italic, for a bit of emphasis.

Same applies to Anna’s Catering, I’m afraid.

It might just be me though - I’m not a great lover of a mixture of
typefaces!

Me again

The text on each page is different, and gets bigger on each successive
page. They’re still way too close to the edge of the green box, looks
really cramped.

When you change from page to page, stuff ‘hops around’ — the top
header type moves, things are not in the same position on each page.
It’s noticeable, and it doesn’t look professional.

Are you called Grassroots Communications, GR Designs, or both?

The top header, with the text above and below the ‘swoosh’, all breaks
up if you enlarge the text in the browser. I think you could probably
fix it if you made the top text box larger; the one that says
‘Grassroots Communications’. At the moment, when the text gets bigger,
it wraps onto two lines and covers the ‘swoosh’.
The text in the green boxes flows out of them too, when you enlarge
text. I don’t know what you can do about that with the current type of
design, but it’s something I’d want to fix at some stage. It’d
certainly help if you made the text on the ‘Services’ and ‘Examples’
pages smaller (in the green boxes, I mean).
I’ve just read Trevor’s post and our reply and note that you’ve done
something; but something horrible has happened on the home page …

… and that’s without enlarging the text.

best wishes,

Paul Bradforth

Yes 18px is too big for what is essentially a body text - 12 or 14 at a push should be fine and if it doesn’t fill the boxes then write some more.

‘Merketing’ - in the product selector on the Contact form
