CSS Menu problem

Hi,
Has anyone else had problems with the display of CCS menus Windows in IE6. When I use any background element in a menu whether it is just a colour or an image it just doesn’t show in Windows IE6 - works fine in anything else.

Hi Richard,

Make sure you have IE 6 compatibility turned on on your page. If it
is, do you have an example online that we can look at?

Yes it’s evident that this css menu thing does not work properly in IE 6 - therefore I suggest that somebody much brighter than myself on the coding front puts up a tutorial of what code to add so that it does work.

Hi John-Paul,

You don’t need to add any code yourself, just make sure the IE6
compatibility option is turned on in the page inspector palette. If
you aren’t using a background color or image in your menus then take a
look here:

Hi Joe.
Thanks for replying. IE6 compatibility is turned on. Take a look at this link:

http://pixelarte.co.uk/charistest/version1.html

The first 3 buttons are fine - they don’t have hyperlinks. The last 3 do have hyperlinks and the back ground doesn’t show.

Thanks,
Richard

Hi Joe,
I have found another problem when using PNG files as menu backgrounds the transparent areas don’t show in IE6 - other PNG’s on the same page show transparent areas fine. In the example below the menu tabs have rounded corners but if you take a look in IE6 you will see the edges don’t show as transparent. It would seem that the IE6 PNG fix doesn’t work on the CSS menus.

This is actually something that the current IE6 compatibility shim
doesn’t address. PNG backgrounds aren’t fixed, although there are some
work-arounds possible with other PNG-fix tricks. One thing that does
absolutely work is to use PNG-8 images, although that doesn’t get you
the smooth alpha transparency.

In other, happier news, IE6 usage is at an all-time low around the
world, below 20% on average.

Hi Richard,

Select the entire list and in the Inspector palette set the list to
use the default list type. That should fix it, if not let me know.
